What is the difference between CONCATENATE and CONCAT functions in Microsoft Excel?
CONCATENATE and CONCAT are both functions used in Microsoft Excel for combining text strings. However, there are some key differences between the two:
- CONCATENATE: CONCATENATE function is used to join multiple text strings or values together. It allows you to combine data from different cells or directly input text values. For example, =CONCATENATE("Hello", "World") will result in "Hello World".
- CONCAT: CONCAT function is a newer function introduced in Excel 2016. It has a more simplified syntax and can work with arrays or ranges of cells directly. For example, =CONCAT(A1:A3) will concatenate the values in cells A1, A2, and A3.
Overall, both functions serve the same purpose of combining text strings but CONCAT function offers a more efficient way to do so, especially when working with arrays or ranges of cells.
