Difference between Sales Order and Delivery Document in SAP SD
In SAP SD, a Sales Order is a document that represents a formal request from a customer to purchase products or services. It contains details such as the items ordered, quantities, pricing, and delivery dates. Once a Sales Order is created, it serves as the basis for further processing and fulfills the customer's order requirements.
On the other hand, a Delivery Document is created to specify the items that are to be delivered to the customer. It includes information such as the delivery quantities, shipping details, and dates. The Delivery Document is generated based on the Sales Order and is used to keep track of the goods that are being shipped to the customer.
In summary, while a Sales Order initiates the sales process by capturing the customer's order, a Delivery Document is created to document the actual delivery of goods to the customer.
