Difference between Maintenance Plan and Maintenance Item in SAP PM

In SAP Plant Maintenance (PM), a maintenance plan is a set of instructions used to perform maintenance tasks on technical objects. It consists of the tasks to be carried out periodically as part of preventive maintenance strategies. On the other hand, a maintenance item is a specific task or job within a maintenance plan that needs to be executed at a certain interval.

While a maintenance plan defines the overall schedule and scope of maintenance activities, a maintenance item provides detailed information on individual maintenance tasks such as specific instructions, resources required, and estimated time for completion.
