Tell me about a time when you had to handle a difficult employee or team member
During my time as a hiring manager, I encountered a situation where one of my team members was consistently missing deadlines and displaying a negative attitude towards their work. This behavior was affecting the overall team morale and productivity.
I approached the employee in a non-confrontational manner to understand the root cause of their behavior. Through open communication, I discovered that the employee was overwhelmed with their workload and was facing personal issues that were affecting their performance.
To address the situation, I worked with the employee to set achievable goals and priorities, providing additional support and resources where necessary. I also encouraged the team member to communicate any challenges they were facing openly to prevent similar issues in the future.
Over time, the employee's attitude improved, and they started meeting deadlines consistently. The team morale also improved as a result of the proactive approach taken to address the issue.
By handling the situation with empathy, communication, and support, I was able to foster a positive work environment and help the employee overcome their challenges, leading to a successful resolution of the issue.
