Difference between Role and Profile in Salesforce
In Salesforce, a Role and a Profile serve different purposes in managing user access and permissions.
Role:
A Role in Salesforce defines the hierarchy and reporting structure within an organization. Roles help in determining the level of access a user has to the data owned by other users in the same or lower role in the hierarchy.
Profile:
A Profile in Salesforce defines the permissions and settings that determine what users can do within the organization. Profiles control object-level and field-level permissions, page layouts, record types, and more.
While Roles are used to define reporting relationships and data access levels, Profiles are used to define the functional access and permissions for users within the organization.
It is important to correctly assign both Roles and Profiles to users to ensure proper data security and access control in Salesforce.
