Software Tester Interview Question: Describe a Critical Bug Found
During my experience as a software tester, I encountered a critical bug in a banking application where transactions were not being recorded accurately in the backend system.
Upon identifying the issue, I immediately documented the steps to reproduce the bug, including screenshots and any error messages displayed. I also recorded the impact of the bug on the overall application performance.
Next, I reported the bug following the company's bug tracking system guidelines. I included all relevant details such as the severity of the bug, priority level, and any known workarounds.
To ensure effective communication, I collaborated with the development team to provide additional information and clarify any technical aspects of the bug. Constant updates were provided on the bug's status until it was resolved.
After the bug was fixed, I conducted regression testing to ensure the issue was completely resolved and did not introduce any new bugs into the system.
Overall, the process of reporting and documenting the critical bug enabled swift resolution and improved the application's reliability in handling financial transactions.
