Example of Conflict Resolution in a Managerial Role
During my previous role as a restaurant manager, I encountered a situation where there was a conflict between two team members regarding the allocation of shifts. One team member felt that they were being unfairly treated, while the other believed they were following the agreed-upon schedule.
To address this conflict, I first met separately with each team member to listen to their perspectives and understand the root cause of the issue. I then facilitated a meeting with both parties to openly discuss the situation and find a mutually acceptable solution.
Through active listening and effective communication, I was able to guide the team members towards a compromise that addressed their concerns while also meeting the needs of the restaurant's operational requirements. By maintaining transparency and fostering a collaborative environment, we were able to resolve the conflict amicably and maintain a positive working relationship within the team.
This experience taught me the importance of proactive conflict resolution, empathy, and communication skills in fostering a harmonious work environment.
