Resolving Conflict Within a Team: A Management Interview Question

During my time as a team leader, I encountered a conflict between two team members regarding the distribution of tasks. One team member felt like they were shouldering more of the workload, leading to tension and decreased productivity within the team.

To address this issue, I first sat down with each team member individually to understand their perspectives and concerns. I then brought both team members together for a calm and constructive discussion. I encouraged open communication and emphasized the importance of teamwork and collaboration.

After listening to both sides and acknowledging their feelings, I proposed a revised task distribution plan that was fair and equitable. I also implemented regular check-ins to ensure that the workload remained balanced and that any future conflicts were addressed promptly.

By fostering open communication, promoting a sense of fairness, and actively addressing the issue at hand, I was able to resolve the conflict within the team effectively and promote a more harmonious and productive work environment.
