Handling Difficult Team Member Performance Issues
When discussing a time when I had to handle a difficult team member or employee performance issue, the key is effective communication and problem-solving skills. In a previous role, a team member was consistently missing deadlines and not meeting expectations, affecting overall team productivity.
First, I scheduled a one-on-one meeting with the team member to discuss their performance concerns. I listened actively to their perspective, identified the root cause of the issue, and clearly communicated the expectations and consequences of not meeting targets.
Through ongoing feedback, coaching, and setting achievable goals, the team member's performance gradually improved. I also provided additional training and resources to support their professional development.
In the end, the team member was able to meet expectations and contribute positively to the team's success. This experience taught me the importance of addressing performance issues proactively and finding collaborative solutions to enhance team dynamics.
