Quality Controller Interview Question: Can you describe a time when you identified a quality issue in a product or process, and how did you handle it?

During my previous role as a Quality Controller, I encountered a situation where a batch of products was found to have a deviation in the specified dimensions. Upon identifying this quality issue during the routine inspection process, I immediately documented the findings and communicated with the production team to halt further production of the affected batch.

Next, I conducted a thorough root cause analysis to understand the source of the deviation. Through collaboration with the engineering and manufacturing teams, we identified that the issue originated from a malfunctioning equipment calibration process. I worked closely with these teams to establish corrective actions, including recalibrating the equipment and implementing additional quality checks at various stages of production.

To ensure that similar quality issues are prevented in the future, I revised the inspection checklist to include stricter dimensional tolerances and conducted training sessions for the production staff on the importance of quality control measures. This proactive approach not only resolved the current issue but also improved the overall quality control processes within the organization.
