Difference between Storage Type and Storage Bin in SAP WM
In SAP WM, a storage type is a logical division of warehouse space that defines the characteristics and constraints of the storage area. It helps in grouping storage bins based on similarities such as storage capacity, temperature requirements, handling units, etc. Storage types are usually configured at a higher level in the warehouse structure.
On the other hand, a storage bin is a physical location within a storage type where goods are stored. Storage bins are identified by unique bin numbers and can be further categorized based on their properties such as storage category, hazardous materials storage, etc. Storage bins are the smallest storage units in the warehouse that hold inventory items.
Therefore, the main difference between a storage type and a storage bin in SAP WM is that a storage type is a larger, logical division of warehouse space, while a storage bin is a specific physical location within a storage type where goods are stored.
