Handling Difficult Employee Performance Issue Example
During my previous role as a manager, the most challenging employee performance issue I encountered was with a team member who consistently missed project deadlines and displayed a negative attitude towards colleagues.
Identifying the root cause of the problem, I initiated a one-on-one meeting with the employee to discuss their performance concerns in a constructive and non-confrontational manner.
Through active listening and empathy, I understood that the employee was overwhelmed with workload and was struggling with time management skills.
I developed a performance improvement plan tailored to address the specific issues the employee was facing, including setting clear expectations, providing additional training resources, and offering mentorship support.
Regular feedback sessions were conducted to monitor progress and provide ongoing guidance. With consistent support and encouragement, the employee was able to improve their performance, meet deadlines, and demonstrate a more positive attitude towards their work and colleagues.
By addressing the issue proactively and offering personalized support, we were able to resolve the performance issue effectively and maintain a positive work environment.
